If you picked up a copy of the Yardley Inn summer 2010 newsletter or received your copy in the mail, don't forget to redeem your dining vouchers! The expiration date for the vouchers is Tuesday, August 3, so be sure to stop by the inn before August gets rolling.

Starting now and running until August 31, the Yardley Inn is hosting an exciting contest for a chance to win a Flip Video Camera. To enter, simply come to the inn and make a YouTube video during your visit. Post your video on YouTube and e-mail us the link at yardleyinn@gmail.com so we can enter you. Our panel of judges will select our favorite videos and all guests and friends of contest entrants may vote for their favorite video. 
The winner will be announced in September.

Official Steps:
1.    Visit the Yardley Inn for a meal or drinks and create a video during your visit. Be as creative as you like, but please keep things family-friendly.
2.    Upload your video to YouTube.
3.    E-mail us the link to your video at yardleyinn@gmail.com (Subject: "Flip Video YouTube Contest").

General Rules:
•    All videos must be family-friendly and free from any type of discrimination or indecent behavior. A list of finalists will be eligible for votes from family, friends, and other Yardley Inn guests to determine the winner.
•    By entering, you agree to receive e-mail specials from The Yardley Inn. You can opt out at any time.
•    Open to residents of the United States age 18 and up
•    Void where prohibited. All local and state laws apply.

Restrictions:
•    One entry per person.

Did you know Chef Eben is really passionate about the quality of the meat we use in our burgers and everything else at the Yardley Inn? He feels very strongly about beef and using local ingredients in all that he cooks.

"I’m constantly striving to improve the quality of beef we serve here," says Chef Eben. "Just recently we bought a commercial grinder so we can grind our burger meat daily. We’re using a blend of chuck, sirloin, and brisket right now. The next time you have a Yardley Burger, check out the improvement and let us know what you think. I’m currently working  to find a reliable source for naturally-raised, humanely treated beef."

Chef Eben explains that most commercially available beef beef comes from one of five huge packing houses that run feedlots throughout the Midwest. Being from Kansas, Eben feels strongly about ensuring top quality of the beef served at the Yardley Inn.

"My eventual goal is to form a cooperative of local farmers, distributors and restaurateurs interested in bringing humanely treated, sustainably grown, local beef to our tables," Eben says. "I’m working on it with some very motivated people and I feel confident that we should be able to bring you some local beef within the next year. In the meanwhile we are going to work toward switching over to natural beef from other sources. None of you will feel the impact of these changes in your pocketbook. I don’t believe that eating the best food should be a luxury."
